With effect from 12am on 18 September 2022 RAM will unfortunately no longer be in a position to transport any C.O.D firearm services arranged via our website. This decision has not been taken lightly and we regret any inconvenience to our long-standing customers that have utilised these services.
The reason for this decision is there is a significant difference of opinion as to the effect and enforcement of the legal framework of the firearm permit issued to transport weapons within South Africa. The South African Police Services (“SAPS”) is insisting that every courier is firearm competent to physically transport arms and ammunition irrespective of the fact that they physically do not have responsibility for handling the arms and ammunition.
With these rules RAM does not have the resources in place to provide a service which legally complies with the SAPS interpretation of the legislation.
Our legal counsel confirms that the SAPS enforcement of the legislation is not correct but we are not in a position to fight this battle.
